Brian Riegler

Elizabeth and Brian Riegler ’92 welcomed Gavin McColl Riegler, born Aug. 28, 2015. Brian was recently promoted to the rank of commander in the United States Navy Reserves. He is currently mobilized to active duty to Afghanistan with Special Operations Joint Task Force-Afghanistan, where he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal for injuries sustained in combat during an attack on his base on Aug. 7, 2015.

Lynnea Valpatic

Lynnea Valpatic ’92, LCSW, ACHP-SW, CAP, received the Under Secretary of Health Award for Excellence in Social Work Practice in February 2016. In May 2016, she was named the South Florida Federal Employee of the year. Lynnea is the hospice and palliative care social worker and bereavement coordinator at the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center.

Dan Wilburn

Dan Wilburn ’92, of R.B. Smith Co., recently attended the Business Leaders Forum 2014 in San Diego, one of two exclusive invitation-only regional events hosted by LPL Financial, an independent
broker-dealer.

Brian Riegler

Brian Riegler ’92 was appointed by then-Illinois Governor Pat Quinn and the Illinois General Assembly to act as the commissioner of the Illinois Educational Opportunities for Military Children Council. In this position, Brian acts as a liaison between the Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission (MIC3) and the Illinois Educational Opportunities for Military Children Council and to facilitate dialogue between stakeholders around issues pertaining to educational opportunities for students of military families. He also serves as principal of Waukegan High School, the second largest high school in Illinois.
