Solar Eclipse
A major celestial event can be an excellent opportunity for learning.
In April of 2024, a near-total solar eclipse was visible in Northwest Indiana, and Valparaiso University was ready to take full advantage of the opportunities that came with it. The astronomy department helped people get a better view of the event, while meteorology students used a Portable Atmospheric Research Center — a high-tech RV — from the University of Wisconsin-Madison to research the unique atmospheric conditions that come with an eclipse.
