Phi Sigma Kappa

Phi Sigma Kappa alumni from the classes of ’70–’74 have gathered regularly for the past several years in Flossmoor, Illinois, to catch up with one another and reminisce about their time as Phi Sigs. Their most recent event was held on Oct. 29, 2016.

Susan Dunn

Susan Dunn ’70 has worked as a clinical therapist at Stress Recovery Center in South Bend, Indiana for the past four years. She has counseled teens and adults for more than 30 years. During this time, Susan has also enjoyed supervising and training other therapists. She has been married to her second husband, John Dunn, a retired state trooper, for 12 years. Together they have five children and six grandchildren.

David Abrahamson

David Abrahamson ’70 was honored by the Lutheran Life Foundation with a gala celebration, which launched the Pastor David Abrahamson Fund for Benevolent and Spiritual Care. David was recognized for his decades of service to church and community and for his advocacy on behalf of the residents served by Lutheran Life Communities. The fund will underwrite the ministries of Lutheran Life Communities chaplains, provide sacred spaces for worship, and support residents who can no longer afford the cost of their care.

Alan “Al” Rider

Alan “Al” Rider ’70 was recently recognized with the biennial Rabbi Zalman Leadership Award from Sage-ing International, an interfaith spiritual direction group for intentional active eldering, for service as founding director of SI’s global community webinar project. Al is a retired career counselor, spiritual director, and ELCA pastor, having served on both coasts, the Midwest, and abroad. He directed the Lutheran Field Service chaplaincy support program throughout Europe for the ELCA and LCMS at the time of German reunification and was instrumental in founding the International Church of Prague immediately after Russian withdrawal during the Czech Republic’s “Velvet Revolution” in 1990. He lives in Indianapolis with his wife, Karen.

Linda Bohlmann Bredrup

Linda Bohlmann Bredrup ’70 married Steve Bricker ’71 on Sept. 26, 2015, in Barrington, Ill. Linda, Kappa Psi Omega, and Steve, Phi Delta Theta, reconnected after many years. Their wedding included four children, seven grandchildren, and many Phi Delta and Kappa friends! Linda and her son, Tim Bredrup ’05, continue to support beloved Valpo and its great basketball program.
