Rachael DeVries
Rachael DeVries ’17 is working on a master’s degree in bioinformatics at Copenhagen University. Her thesis research involves building a diagnostic machine learning model that takes single-cell RNA sequence data as input, and querying the model to explore connections between gene expression and disease

Haneefah Khaaliq
Haneefah Khaaliq ’17 J.D. was appointed in 2017 by Gary mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson to preside over the local civil rights agency. Additionally, Haneefah was one of 40 applicants selected for the Indiana Democratic Party’s Emerging Leaders Program. She plans to run for U.S. Senate in 2022.

Frank Caputo ’17 married his wife, Maggie, on March 2, 2020. By his side was his first year roommate, Ethan Gasbarro ’17.

Nathaniel Forret ’17 and Nikolina (Nina) Milankovic ’17 were married June 1, 2019, in Indianapolis.

Jess Hunter-Bowman
Jess Hunter-Bowman ’17 J.D. is one of 28 lawyers nationwide to receive a Skadden Fellowship, a two-year fellowship awarded to young lawyers to pursue the practice of public interest law on a full-time basis. He is the first Valparaiso University Law School graduate to receive this honor; the majority of applicants come from Harvard, Yale, NYU, Stanford, and Columbia. Jess was a 2019 recipient of the VUAA Alumni Community Service Award.

Jessica Wozniak ’17 Hughes married Zachariah Hughes ’16 on Aug. 31, 2019.
