Warren G. Hoger
Warren G. Hoger ’52 received his Crown of Glory on June 30, 2024. Warren was a proud member of Kappa Iota Pi fraternity and graduated with a B.S. in Physical Education with a minor in History.
After serving in the U.S. Army Warren began a teaching and coaching career that extended over 42 years. He was a member of the Illinois Football Coaches Hall of Fame and the Illinois Track and Cross Country Coaches Hall of Fame. In 2003, Warren received the Valparaiso University Alumni Achievement Award and on October 11, 2014 through the generous support of Jay Christopher, the Warren G. Hoger Track at Valparaiso University was dedicated.
To quote Warren, “If you are just coaching, you are not doing enough! You must be a leader, a teacher, and always, a Christian role model to the students with whom you have been entrusted.”
Coach Hoger strove to make positive things happen in the classroom and on the athletic field. He spent a lifetime in dedication to Lutheran education and to maintaining and strengthening the ethics, sportsmanship, and faith of students, coaches, and athletes through his witness to his faith in Jesus Christ, our Savior.
