Varun Raj Pucha

It was with heavy hearts that we experienced the tragic passing of Varun Raj Pucha on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023. Varun was an international master’s student who lost his life after a horrific attack off campus.

Varun Raj Pucha came to Valparaiso University from Hyderabad, India to pursue a graduate degree in Information Technology (MSIT). He is remembered by his professors and peers as conscientious, grateful, and focused on his academic pursuits. He was polite, earnest, and blessed with the ability and fortitude to undertake a demanding academic program in a foreign nation.

The Valpo family has come together to support one another, and to offer our assistance to Varun’s family and friends, as well as our international student community, as they have navigated this difficult time. A memorial for Varun was held for students, faculty, staff and members of the public at the Chapel of the Resurrection on Nov. 16, 2023.
