Nate Gordon ’06 shares that Zimmer Biomet and the College of Engineering have established a strong connection, which was on display at a South Bend Cubs minor league baseball game this past summer. To keep that connection strong, Nate makes personal recruiting visits to campus each year. Jane Kurhajec ’73 Wehrenberg and Bill Wehrenberg ’73 celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 13, 2023 with a party in Petoskey, Michigan. They were married in the Chapel of the Resurrection on this same date in 1973. Six Phi Beta Chi sisters from the Class of 1976 traveled to South Carolina to celebrate 50 years of friendship. Seth Carlson ’15 founded the Miami Sousa Band five years ago. In honor of their fifth anniversary concert, held on September 22, 2023, he invited Jeffrey Doebler, Ph.D., Valpo professor of music and director of music education and bands, to be the guest conductor. Seth says that Professor Doebler was his inspiration to establish the band and had it not been for his leadership and mentorship, the Miami Sousa Band would not be a reality.
To celebrate their 40th birthdays, nine alumnae from the Class of 2005 traveled from across the country for a get together in Sedona, Arizona. Dana Dutcher ’09 and Matthew Cook ’10 were married on December 2, 2022, in Catonsville, Maryland. Valpo alumni in the wedding party were Valerie Kaufman ’09 as maid of honor and Brittni Hamman ’09 Lovelace and Jessica Kindschi Walter ’09 as bridesmaids, Luis Sifuentes ’10 as best man, and Daniel Blood ’10 as a groomsman. More than 25 Valpo alumni were in attendance.
