Professor Gary Fetter
Professor Gary Fetter, 54, of Valparaiso, Ind., died Oct. 16, 2014. Born in Quantico, Va., he was the son of the late Gerald L. and Gloria M. Fetter, and his wife, Kelly Bellanger, serves as visiting associate professor in the English department. Professor Fetter loved God, life, family, friends, neighbors, students, colleagues, and animals.
A first-generation college student, Professor Fetter’s love of learning earned him advanced degrees from Bloomsburg University, The Ohio State University, and a Ph.D, from Virginia Tech in the field of decision sciences. He served as a captain in the United States Marine Corps, developed and managed businesses, worked as a manager in health care, led teams in information technology at the University of Wyoming and Northern Arizona University, and was a valued faculty member at Western Carolina University, Radford University, and Valparaiso University.
In recent summers, he could be found at his home in Middleville, Michigan, where he enjoyed spending time with dear family and friends, feeding birds, listening to music, cooking, teaching, and working on his many creative projects.
